WEST MONROE — The LHSAA announced on Tuesday of venue changes regarding the boys basketball, powerlifting and wrestling championships starting with the 2026-27 school year.

The powerlifting championships, which have been held at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner over the past two years, will move to the West Monroe Sports and Events Complex.

“We are excited to host our powerlifting championships in the Monroe – West Monroe community,” LHSAA Assistant Executive Director and Director of Powerlifting Lee Sanders said in a press release.

Multiple Monroe-area teams and individuals clinched LHSAA titles last winter, including West Monroe’s boys, D’Arbonne Woods Charter’s girls and Cedar Creek’s boys and girls.

The LHSAA boys basketball and wrestling championships will take place at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Cajundome and New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, respectively.
