CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Ottawa University powerlifting program turned in a historic performance at the Equipped Nationals, claiming five national titles and setting multiple national records against the top competition in the country.
The Braves crowned five individual national champions in their respective weight classes. Gianna Trevino captured a national championship in the 84+kg division, while Mena Reeves earned the title in the 84kg weight class. On the men’s side, Ashton Fischer won the 105kg national championship, Ryan Creasy claimed the 120kg title, and Dwayne Coleman earned the national championship in the 120+kg division.
Ottawa’s dominance on the platform was highlighted by several record-breaking performances. Fischer rewrote the national record book in the 105kg weight class, setting new national records in the squat, bench press, and total. He recorded a squat of 805.78 pounds, a bench press of 540.12 pounds, and finished with a total of 2,073.42 pounds.
Creasy added to Ottawa’s historic showing by setting a new national record in the deadlift for the 120kg division with a lift of 728.62 pounds.
Coleman also delivered a record-breaking performance in the 120+kg weight class. He established new national records in the deadlift and total, posting a deadlift of 749.56 pounds and a total of 2,259.71 pounds.
The five national championships and multiple national records capped off an outstanding season for the Braves and further solidified Ottawa University’s standing as one of the premier powerlifting programs in the nation.
