No rest day! Cutler (52) destroyed his legs on the scrap

Former four-time Mr. Olympia champion, Jay Cutler, proves that age really is just a number. Even at 52 years old, he keeps himself in incredible shape and he certainly doesn’t slack off in his workouts. While many professional bodybuilders lose significant volume and overall fitness after their competitive careers, Cutler still maintains an admirable physique thanks to a strict diet and relentless consistency in his training.

He recently shared his current leg workout on his YouTube channel and talked about why he believes daily movement is the absolute key to health and longevity.

Monstrous Leg Workout by Jay Cutler

Legs have always been Cutler’s huge weapon on the competition stage and one of the reasons he was able to dethrone the legendary Ronnie Coleman in 2006. And what does his training look like today? While he doesn’t bother his body with the extreme weights he did in his glory days, the training volume and intensity remain. To maintain muscle mass while sparing his joints, he now relies on slightly lighter weights with maximum focus on technique and muscle contraction.

Here is his current list of leg exercises:

  • Leg curl machine
  • Stiff-Legged Deadlift
  • Single leg curl machine
  • Walking barbell lunges (Walking barbell lunges)
  • Lying leg curl machine
  • Leg extension machine (Leg extension machine)
  • Vertical leg press (Vertical leg press machine)
  • Classic leg press (Leg press machine)
  • Squat machine (Roger squat machine)
  • Dumbbell hip thrusts (Dumbbell hip thrust)
  • Stationary bike at the end

Why exercise 7 days a week? Health is the greatest wealth

In the video, Cutler surprised his fans by revealing that he currently works out absolutely every day. “I actually don’t know the last time I took a day off. I just work out 7 days a week,” he said.

His main goal is no longer to build extreme muscle volume, but to focus on the functionality of the body – boosting circulation, speeding up metabolism and reducing stress. Regular movement, he says, has a huge impact on how one feels immediately upon waking.

“If you can incorporate any form of fitness into your life, it will benefit you immensely. The biggest fulfillment is waking up pain-free and knowing that your health is good. After all, health is the greatest wealth, isn’t it?” says the world bodybuilding legend.

Movement is not just lifting iron

Interestingly, although Jay Cutler is a weightlifting icon, he points out that to be fit, you don’t necessarily have to spend hours just between machines and weights. Anything that keeps you moving counts and is beneficial. Whether it’s a brisk walk around the neighborhood, swimming, tennis, basketball or even the increasingly popular pickleball.

In addition to the physical benefits, exercise is also a great cure for the mental stress of today’s world.

“Having an activity to take your mind off the daily pressures is absolutely key today. Every time you open social media, all you hear about is politics, wars and financial problems. Exercise is the best escape,” Cutlersays .

Jay Cutler is living proof that consistency gets results not only on the stand, but especially in everyday life. Whether your goal is building huge muscles or “just” living an active and pain-free life, take a cue from the four-time Mr. Olympia – find time to move every day!
