WANA (May 22) – Iran has been officially selected to host the 2028 Asian Weightlifting Championships, which will serve as a qualification event for the 2028 Olympic Games.

 

Sajjad Anoushiravani, the President of the Iran Weightlifting Federation, announced the news during a televised interview today, confirming that the tournament will feature both men’s and women’s divisions and will be held on Kish Island.

 

According to Anoushiravani, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has fully accepted Iran’s hosting conditions for the women’s events, clearing the way for the high-profile Olympic qualifier to take place in the country.
