SEARCY, Ark. (KAIT) – More than 2,000 athletes and 500 coaches are expected to participate in the 2026 Special Olympics Arkansas Summer Games May 21-23.
Opening ceremonies will be held at the Ted and Marcie Lloyd Track and Field Complex, 1825 E. Beebe Capps Expressway in Searcy, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 21.
The competition begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, at the Harding University’s Bison Lane, except swimming which will be held at the Searcy Swim Center, 525 Recreation Way.
Athletes will compete in a variety of sports including bocce, softball, tennis, powerlifting, swimming and track and field.

The public is invited to come out and cheer on the contestants.
“This is a wonderful event, and we hope many will attend in support of the athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers and so many others who make this event possible,” said Dr. John Richard Duke, executive director of the American Studies Institute at Harding University.
