Wesley Vissers, known as “The Dutch Oak”, has absolutely dominated the Classic Physique scene in recent months. After shocking the world by winning the 2024 Arnold Classic (and subsequently the 2026 one), he has become one of the most prominent faces in bodybuilding today. However, his physique, which is reminiscent of the golden era of Arnold Schwarzenegger, runs into one major problem: weight limits.
“It’s definitely going to happen,” Vissers says of the move to the Open
In a recent YouTube video, Vissers sat down with four-time Mr. Olympia titleholder Jay Cutler. It was Cutler, who knows all about bulk and muscle, who broached the subject of moving up to the Men’s Open.
Jay Cutler jokingly (but with serious undertones) noted that Vissers should have “slipped” into the Open at the recent Fibo Pro Championships. Vissers’ response thrilled the fans:
“Maybe it will be sooner rather than later, who knows? But it’s definitely going to happen,” Visserssaid .
Why does the Open make sense?
Vissers is a very tall competitor by Classic Physique standards. In order to meet the weight limit of his category, he often has to drastically shed muscle mass that his skeleton would naturally support. Moving up to the Men’s Open would allow him to use his genetic potential to the fullest and add pounds of pure muscle without fear of weight.
Jay Cutler added that Wesley has a structure that could make quite a splash in the Open division. Unlike other competitors like Mike Sommerfeld (who has let it be known that he will stay in the Classic forever), Vissers sees the Open as a new challenge.
The road to Olympia leads through Classic
While the transfer plans are tempting, Wesley is currently fully focused on Mr. Olympia. After his victory at the Arnold Classic and a close second place behind Mike Sommerfeld at the Arnold Classic UK, his goal is to dethrone the reigning champions and claim the most prestigious statuette in Classic Physique.
Vissers believes his current form is the best of his career.
“We know what to work on. We can be even sharper and add mass in the right places,” he saidafter his latest start.
Conclusion
If Wesley Vissers does indeed move on to the Men’s Open, it will be one of the most watched moments in modern bodybuilding. Backed by legends like Jay Cutler, and with a physique that combines aesthetics with incredible bulk, the “Dutch Oak” is poised to rewrite history.
