Powerlifting Competition Comes to Erie | Local News

A different kind of competition took center stage in Erie this weekend as the Great Lakes Powerlifting Championship returned to Sinai Sports.

The event kicked off early Saturday morning with lifting sessions running throughout the day. In total, 83 lifters competed in the championship, ranging in age from 11 to 82 years old.

The men’s and women’s lightweight competitions were held during the morning session, while the men’s heavyweight competition took place in the afternoon. Awards were presented following each session as athletes showcased their strength and skill.

Organizers said they were excited to bring the championship back to Erie.

Competitors traveled from across Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York to take part in this year’s event.
