Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The National Olympic Committee announced in a statement that the country’s seven-member powerlifting team, consisting of six athletes and a coach, returned to the country after participating in the world championships in Belarus with six colorful medals, adding that the team, which participated in these competitions with the support of the country’s Sports Administration, was able to achieve a great achievement for Afghanistan after a week of competition in the deadlift, bench press and squat sections.
The announcement said that at the end of these competitions, Noor Ahmad Sakhisadah, Mirwais Sakhisadah, Jaber Shirin Sokhan and Fawad Shirin Sokhan won gold medals, while Ruhollah Khairandish and Hamidullah Hakimi won silver and bronze medals.
It is worth mentioning that the World Powerlifting Championship, with the participation of athletes from ten countries, began on May 6 of this year and ended on May 10. With their impressive performance, the Afghan national athletes were able to win six valuable medals and also take third place in the team competition.
