Afghan Powerlifting Team Heads to Belarus

Afghanistan’s national powerlifting team has left Kabul today, Tuesday, for the World Championships in Belarus after nearly a decade of absence from international competitions.

Officials from the Afghanistan Powerlifting and Strongman Federation say that due to certain restrictions, national athletes were deprived of participating in international events in recent years. However, with the support of the sports authorities, the opportunity for their participation has now been made possible after eight years.

The team consists of six athletes and one coach, who are heading to the competition with full preparation and high morale.

The athletes are set to compete in youth, masters, and open categories, showcasing their strength and abilities against competitors from various countries around the world.

Team members say this participation is not only a competitive opportunity but also a platform for Afghanistan’s strong return to the global powerlifting stage. They aim to win medals and bring pride to the country.

The World Powerlifting Championships are scheduled to take place from May 6 to May 10 in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where Afghan representatives will once again compete internationally after years of absence.
