CHINA SPRING, Texas (FOX 44) — As the lone participant from China Spring ISD in this year’s state powerlifting meet, Aaliyah Totten knew she had to show out.
“In the back of my mind I’m thinking, ‘don’t disappoint,’ Totten said. “Just got to protect the brand and get out there and work.”
The China Spring junior surely didn’t disappoint, bringing home a silver medal as a 4A State Runner-Up lifting some serious weight after setting the Regional record for deadlift earlier this year.
Totten squatted 340, benched 200 and deadlifted 380 pounds on her way to the second-place finish, eyeing the 1,000-pound club next year.
“I started crying and I don’t usually cry a lot,” Totten said with a laugh. “It just starts from here, just keep working.”
