World Para Powerlifting LA28 Qualification Rankings Published


World Para Powerlifting (WPPO) has published the Paralympic qualification rankings for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

Ranking Category: Games Rankings
Ranking List: Los Angeles 2028 – Qualification Pathway

The rankings will be updated following all events included in the WPPO 2025-2028 Qualification Pathway, in which athletes must compete to remain eligible for LA28 qualification.

Qualification Pathway requirements include mandatory participation in the following WPPO Recognised Competitions:

2025 World Championships or 2025 Junior World Championships

• 2026 respective Regional Open Championships*

• 2027 World Championships or 2027 Junior World Championships

• At least two World Para Powerlifting Sanctioned Competitions in the year 2028 (prior to 30 June 2028): 
a. 2028 respective Regional Open Championships*
b. any other 2028 WPPO Regional Open Championships or a WPPO World Cup 

* Exceptions may be granted in accordance with the process set out in the “World Para Powerlifting Qualification Pathway 2025-2028” document.

The top eight ranked male athletes and eight female athletes in each medal event on the WPPO LA28 Paralympic Ranking List as of 6 June 2028 will obtain one qualification slot. 

If a National Paralympic Committee (NPC) is represented in more than eight bodyweight categories in either gender, the NPC must nominate which eight athletes per gender should receive the qualification slots. 

A total of 80 male and 80 female athletes will qualify for the Paralympic Games via the LA28 Paralympic Ranking List. An additional 10 male and 10 female athletes will be selected through Bipartite Commission Invitation slots. 

Any slots that cannot be allocated under the Paralympic Ranking Lis will be reassigned via the Bipartite Commission Invitation method, according to the LA28 Qualification Regulations https://www.paralympic.org/la-2028/qualification-regulations

The LA28 Paralympic Games will feature 10 men’s and 10 women’s Para powerlifting medal events, maintaining the programme from Paris 2024

• up to 59kg

• up to 65kg

• up to 72kg

• up to 80kg

• up to 88kg

• up to 97kg

• up to 107kg

• over 107kg

Women’s Events  

• up to 41kg

• up to 45kg

• up to 50kg

• up to 55kg

• up to 61kg

• up to 67kg

• up to 73kg

• up to 79kg

• up to 86kg

• over 86kg

 

Qualification rankings for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games have also been published on the WPPO Rankings page.
