BENGALURU: A gym trainer allegedly died by suicide at his house near Nelamangala late Saturday night, following a relationship with a married woman he had met at the gym.The deceased, Dileep Kumar MR of Vajarahalli, was a bodybuilder who had won several competitions. Police said Dileep made a video call to the woman shortly before his death and told her he was ending his life. He also allegedly showed her a cloth tied to the ceiling fan.Dileep met the 42-year-old woman over two years ago. They grew close during gym training sessions, and the friendship allegedly turned into a romantic relationship. Following disputes, the two approached police about a year ago. The woman submitted a written apology, promising not to contact him again, while Dileep also agreed to maintain distance. However, his family alleged that she continued to harass and blackmail him.On Saturday night, Dileep returned home around 11.15pm. When his father asked him to have dinner, he said he had already eaten outside and went to his room. Within minutes, he allegedly tied a blanket to the ceiling fan and made the video call to the woman, showing her the noose.The woman then messaged Dileep’s sister, Vinutha, on Instagram, asking her to check on him. Alarmed, Vinutha alerted her parents. “My father and I forced open the door and found Dileep hanging. We untied him and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” she said.She alleged that the married woman’s harassment drove her brother to his death. “She used to show him her baby and emotionally harass him. She must be punished,” Vinutha said.Dileep’s father, Ramesh, claimed the woman had pressured his son to transfer his house in her son’s name. “Unable to bear the torture, my son took his life,” he said.Nelamangala Town police have registered a case of abetment to suicide and are investigating.
