Juan Sebastián Anzola Quintero, a Colombian bodybuilder, died during a workout at a public gym on Feb. 5. He was 26.
Anzola — a well-known fitness content creator — was working out at a branch of popular gym chain Smart Fit in Bogota, Colombia, when he suddenly collapsed, reported local outlets El Tiempo, El Colombiano, and El Espectador. Citing spectators, the outlets reported that he died inside the facility.

His Instagram account appeared to be deactivated after his death.
“While first aid was being administered, we activated our emergency protocol, and the secure area of the facility responded to the call,” wrote Smart Fit in a statement obtained by local outlets. “Unfortunately, the person passed away before being transported. We deeply regret the passing of Mr. Anzola and offer our sincerest condolences to his family, loved ones, and friends.”

The statement added that first responders attempted to resuscitate Anzola and used an automated external defibrillator.

Smart Fit did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Anzola was a competitive bodybuilder, holding five overall titles in the discipline, per El Tiempo. He also had a background in industrial design and had earned a master’s degree in physical fitness, the outlet reported.

His family held a funeral on Feb. 8 at Jardines del Recuerdo, a cemetery north of Bogota.
