NSA chief pledges full backing for 2026 IFBB West Africa Championship in Accra

The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah, has pledged his support for the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA) as it prepares to host the 2026 International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) West Africa Championship.

He gave the assurance when the Local Organising Committee (LOC), led by GBFA President Abdul Haye Yartey, paid a courtesy call to formally brief and invite him to the event.

Mr Ampofo-Ankrah commended the federation for its efforts and confirmed he would personally attend the championship.

He also challenged the GBFA leadership to draw on their expertise and experience to deliver a high-quality event that would leave a lasting legacy.

In response, Mr Abdul Haye Yartey promised an impressive show and urged the public to support the championship.

The 2026 IFBB West Africa Championship is scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the National Theatre in Accra.
