Australia will send a 10 athlete Para Powerlifting Team to compete at the Bangkok 2026 AsiaOceania Championships, being held from April 7 to 12 at the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
Sanctioned by World Para Powerlifting, the championships are a key event on the international calendar and form part of the qualification pathway towards the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
The Australian team will compete across a range of weight categories, gaining valuable international experience and ranking points against strong fields from across Asia and Oceania. The event represents an important opportunity for athletes to test themselves at a high performance level early in the Paralympic cycle.
Para Powerlifting Australia Head Coach, Simon Bergner, said the championships were an important milestone for the team.
“This competition is a critical part of our international pathway,” he said.
“It provides our athletes with the opportunity to compete under World Para Powerlifting conditions and continue building experience as we look ahead to the 2026 Commonwealth Games.”
