MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The D’arbonne Woods’ Lady Timberwolves capped off their season with a state championship and are now being recognized as KNOE’s Team of the Week.
The team won the school’s second girls powerlifting championship in three years. Athletes and supporters celebrated the title with a pizza party.
One senior said the community’s support helped fuel the team throughout the season.
“It’s a privilege that we have all these people at our school, like our teachers, our students, and people that want to come to our meets and support us,” said Brilee Smith.
Another senior said she set the goal of winning in her final year and credited the team’s work ethic.
“It feels good, especially because I was a senior, and I really wanted to win this year, and I know the whole team, plus me, worked really hard to get here,” said Bella Richardson.
While Lylah Jones also a senior said the team’s focus stayed on consistent effort.
“To trust the process, not every day is going to be a perfect day, but keep showing up and working hard, and it should pay off.”
Darbonne Woods’ latest title adds to the program’s recent success and highlights the team’s continued momentum.
