In photos shared on his social media, Baena is seen training and lifting weights, with Schwarzenegger looking on and providing guidance from the sidelines.

Baena is seen wearing a tight black tank top and some red shorts, showcasing his strong build and his prominent muscles. Schwarzenegger is wearing all black, wearing a t-shirt and pants, showcasing his white beard and his brown hair.

“You have to shock the muscles!” Baena captioned the post, referencing Schwarzenegger’s advice.

The photos were taken at Gold’s Gym, Schwarzenegger‘s beloved gym, which he had a hand in transforming into one of the meccas of bodybuilding. Baena’s relationship with the gym dates back years.

“I was so nervous,” he said of his first time going to the gym in an older interview with Men’s Health. “I was being observant, trying to see what he was doing and the way he was acting.”

“I was able to acquire a bodybuilding mentality—that I could shape my body however I want,” he concluded.

Joseph Baena is 28 years old and has been pursuing a bodybuilding journey for years, often sharing videos and photos of his time in the gym.

He revealed that he began working out as a teen thanks to his father’s influence, with Schwarzenegger giving him a copy of “The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding,” a book he co-wrote. In an interview with Men’s Health, Baena revealed that he’s incredibly diligent with his fitness, lifting weights around 6 times a week.

“One of the big things I learned from Dad was not to have the ten-rep mentality,” he said. “It’s pushing yourself to the limits and going that extra mile, getting those extra reps and half-reps till you’re basically dying.”

Baena is competing in his first bodybuilding competition on April 5th at the NPC Natural Colorado State championships.
