IWF inspects World Championship preparations in Ismailia


A high-level delegation from the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) arrived in Ismailia to review final preparations for the 2026 IWF World Junior Championships, starting May 2.

Led by International Weightlifting Federation IWF Vice President Khaled Mehalhel, the team is ensuring that all venues and organisational plans meet global standards.

The international team includes AWF Secretary General Manar El-Din El-Sheili, Tournament Director Mathias Lincer, Anti-Doping Officer Timia Horvas, Legal Affairs Officer Achilleas Tougas, and IT Officer Zoltan Veris.
They are conducting field tours of the competition halls, training sites, and hotels to confirm everything is ready for the arriving athletes.

Local organizers are working closely with the visitors, led by Chairman of the Organizing Committee Mohamed Abdel-Maksoud and Tournament Director Captain Mohamed Ehsan. The local team also includes Board Members Mohamed Ayman, Mostafa Ragheb, and Mohamed Samir, as well as Media Head Sherif Hanafi and Finance Head Abdel-Mawgoud El-Sayed.

Supporting the event are Rawabet Sports Vice President Haitham El-Mallah and Ministry of Youth and Sports representatives Akram Samir and Yasser Ghanem.
This collaboration between international and Egyptian officials ensures a world-class event that highlights Egypt’s ability to host major global sports competitions.
