Finding a kidney donor if you need one is not always an easy or quick task. Bodybuilder Lee Haney is discovering that. In an
” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram post captioned, “Looking for a Living Kidney Donor,” Haney’s children, Joshua and Olympia, disclosed the following information in part about their dad, who is 66. “26 years ago I was told I would eventually need a kidney transplant. Through faith, proper nutrition, and exercise, I was blessed to delay it for many years. Now my kidney is failing, and I’m prayerfully hoping to find a living donor. My wife of 43 years and our seven grandchildren would be forever grateful.”
There is also an emotional message from Haney’s son Joshua. “First time sharing this—my dad needs a kidney donor. Please keep him in your prayers and share if you can. He is a Blessing to so many others and breathes life into all he does. There is more work to do. “
The South Carolina native holds eight Mr. Olympia titles. (Ronnie Coleman tied that record.) Haney was welcomed into the International Sports Hall of Fame twelve years ago. He chaired the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports when Bill Clinton was in the White House, per TMZ.
Another Post Slammed People for Spreading “Rumors”
Haney took strong issue with those who are ardently fueling rumors about his medical condition. In another
” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram post, he firmly clapped back at them. It seems like some have misinterpreted the plea for a kidney donor for him as Haney being in much worse physical shape than he actually is. He tried hard to lay those rumors to rest. The former bodybuilding champ asserts he is “fully functional” at this time.
“Greetings to all my family and fans, I am alive and well. It’s appalling to see how fast rumors can spread. Yes, I am in need of a living kidney donor as communicated by my two awesome children. Many of you have sent prayers my way and I appreciate them deeply. My approach is to be proactive as I face this current challenge. My faith in the Lord has always been my super power. Thank you all for being genuinely concern. I am still well and fully functional. I’m not needed in heaven at the time.”
