Bodybuilding legend Lee Haney is asking fans for help finding a kidney transplant.
One day after his children revealed Haney’s need for a kidney transplant in a post on Instagram, the eight-time Mr. Olympia spoke out regarding his health. “Greetings to all my family and fans, I am alive and well. It’s appalling to see how fast rumors can spread,” Haney, 66, wrote in a post.
He confirmed, “Yes, I am in need of a living kidney donor as communicated by my two awesome children” in the post, as told his followers he “deeply” appreciates the well wishes he’s received. “My approach is to be proactive as I face this current challenge,” Haney continued.

“My faith in the Lord has always been my super power. Thank you all for being genuinely concern[ed],” he continued.
The father of two told his followers, “I am still well and fully functional” and that he’s “not needed in heaven at the time.”
Haney’s two children, Joshua and Olympia, first shared his news in a post on Instagram on Monday, March 23, writing, “First time sharing this—my dad needs a kidney donor. Please keep him in your prayers and share if you can. He is a Blessing to so many others and breathes life into all he does.🙏🏾🖤 There is more work to do.”
Their post included a photo of a poster, which said that Haney had known for 26 years that he “would eventually need a kidney transplant” but has been “blessed to delay it for many years,” crediting “faith, proper nutrition, and exercise.”
Haney’s kidney is now “failing,” the poster reads, and that he’s “prayerfully hoping to find a living donor.”
“My wife of 43 years and our 7 grandchildren would be forever grateful,” the post said.

One day before Haney and his family revealed the bodybuilder’s update, his daughter Olympia shared an adorable video of her dad helping her daughter set up a garden. “Papa Haney started Yara first garden today,” Olympia wrote in the caption.
“He built the box and they got going! Her first item are strawberries 🍓 I am so grateful and blessed to have such an amazing dad and Papa to all of his grandbabies. Truly a blessing.”
