VICTORIA, Texas – The Victoria East girls powerlifting team wrapped up its state run with a fourth-place finish, narrowly missing the podium despite several standout individual performances.
Leading the way was Kharli Garcia, who successfully defended her state title in dominant fashion. Garcia secured first place in her weight class with a 1,250-pound total, highlighted by a record-breaking 535-pound squat. She also added a 275-pound bench press and a 440-pound deadlift to cap off her back-to-back championship performance.
Victoria East picked up another gold medal from Olivia Zboral, who claimed first place as a repeat champion as well in her division with a 1,200-pound total. Her day was powered by a 500-pound squat, along with a 295-pound bench press and a 405-pound deadlift.
Additional podium finishes came from Kelsea Bonuz and Cecilia Bonuz, who both placed third in their respective weight classes. Kelsea totaled 1,010 pounds, while Cecilia finished with 1,030 pounds.
Despite the strong individual showings and multiple first-place finishes, the Lady Titans finished just outside the top three as a team, placing fourth overall at the state meet.
