EDINBURG, Texas (KLTV/KTRE) – Livingston’s Maddy Allen won her division and other East Texans brought home medals at the Class 4A Division I state powerlifting meet at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas, on Friday.
Allen won the 181-pound division with a total of 1,140 pounds. She squatted 470 pounds, bench pressed 280 pounds and deadlifted 390 pounds.
In the 97-pound division, Chapel Hill’s Myleigh Bradshaw finished 10th with a total of 545 pounds.
In the 105-pound division, Pine Tree’s Yamile Castillo finished ninth with a total of 615 pounds. Sulphur Springs’ Madison Jeter finished 12th with a total of 575 pounds.
In the 114-pound division, Lindale’s Isabella Bunton finished 19th with a total of 615 pounds.
In the 123-pound division, Pine Tree’s Mariah Berlanga finished 15th with a total of 655 pounds.
In the 132-pound division, Pine Tree’s Jasmine Byrd won the bronze medal. She squatted 310 pounds, bench pressed 200 pounds and deadlifted 320 pounds for a total of 830 pounds.
In the 148-pound division, Lindale’s Sophia Galysh finished eighth with a total of 820 pounds.
In the 165-pound division, Lindale’s Kaniya Pierce finished 10th with a total of 875 pounds. Pine Tree’s Janie Gonzalez finished 14th with a total of 850 pounds.
In the 181-pound division, Lindale’s Mia Hayes finished 11th with a total of 895 pounds.
In the 198-pound division, Pine Tree’s Bristol Sessions finished sixth with a total of 960 pounds.
In the 220-pound division, Lindale’s Harper Kinney finished fourth. She squatted 405 pounds, bench pressed 225 pounds and deadlifted 355 pounds for a total of 985 pounds.
In the 242-plus-pound division, Sulphur Springs’ Caroline McCoy finished 10th with a total of 785 pounds. Sulphur Springs’ Raylynn Miles finished 11th with a total of 780 pounds.
