Panama’s boys won the small-school division of their home powerlifting meet on Friday. Poteau was fourth in the large-school division, and Spiro was fourth in the small-school division.
At 275, Spiro’s Kason Watts won with 1,230 pounds, beating Porter’s Jordan Aiden by 55. Fellow Bulldog Taylor Covey was third with 1,085.
At 220, Pocola’s Jayden Berry won with 1,365 pounds. Panama’s Tristan Jordan was second with 1,195.
At 198, Buddy Zalata won with 1,040 pounds, beating Roland’s Josh Crase by 25. Panama’s Spencer Arter was fifth with 880.
At 168, Panama’s Anthony Carlson won with 1,035 pounds, beating Hartshorne’s Caston Workman by 10.
At 157, Panama’s Ty Smith won with 1,000 pounds, beating Warner’s Brycen Rea by 40. At 132, Panama’s Michael Rogers won with 715, beating Morris’s Lane Boatner by 15.
At 123, Spiro’s Brannon McDonald won with 945, beating Hartshorne’s Tian Stiltner by 270. Panama’s Ryan Shepard was third with 600, and Chase Thompson was fifth with 510.
In the heavyweight division, Heavener’s Anthony Bernal was third with 1,200 pounds.
Panama’s Leyton Hetherington was fifth at 181 with 750. At 145, Panama’s Bryson Taylor was fifth with 710.
Poteau’s Gavin Glaze won the 181-pound class with 1,200 pounds, beating Sallisaw’s Anthony Adams by 150. Diego Moreno was fifth with 985.
Poteau had three in the top five of the 242-pound class. Oscar Gomez was second with 1,280 pounds, matching winner Luke Hodgins of Eufaula, but scoring three fewer points since Hodgins was No. 1 in bench press and deadlift and Gomez was No. 1 in squat. Yair Ruiz was third with 1,125. Hunter Montez was fifth with 1,075.
At 157, Manny Matias was fifth with 970.
