GABINDER Cheema, from Leamington, has qualified for the British Powerlifting Championships.
Cheema produced a record-breaking performance at the West Midlands qualifier earlier this month.
He posted a lift of 160kg bench press in the men’s masters 90kg category to secure his place on the national stage next month.
Cheema trains at Nelson Gym in Leamington under the watchful eye of his father and coach Nirmal.
He now holds the West Midlands regional records in two different weight classes.
His 160kg lift set a new benchmark in the 90kg category which added to his existing record of 172.5kg in the 100kg category.
Gabinder will now begin his final weeks of preparation before representing the region at the national finals.
