Bodybuilder and personal trainer Penny Linnaye is getting her turn in the squared circle this week, participating in a WWE tryout event at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
Linnaye announced her WWE tryout on Instagram last week, stating she had been invited to participate in a WWE tryout event for a week and that she had thought the initial message from WWE was a prank when she received it six months ago.
“Okay… this is the most random, crazy side quest ever,” Linnaye wrote on her social media account last week. “About 6 months ago, I got a DM from WWE asking ifI’dd be interested in a tryout. I genuinely thought it was fake and almost ignored it.”
It looks like Linnaye will have her chance to prove her skills in the squared circle, as WWE is sending her to Orlando for what she called an intense one-week evaluation period with other elite athletes from around the world.
“I’ll be there with a group of insane athletes from all over the world — D1 athletes, professional athletes, bodybuilders, gymnasts, wrestlers,” Linnaye wrote on her social media account. “All of us going through an intense week to see if any one of us has what it takes to become the next WWE Superstar.”
The WWE Performance Center is WWE’s main training center, where aspiring individuals undergo rigorous physical and performance-based testing. According to Linnaye, “They’re not just looking at how strong or athletic we are,” she wrote. “It’s how we move, how we perform, how we handle pressure, our personality, our presence… everything.”
The experience, Linnaye admitted, will definitely push her out of her comfort zone, but she is embracing it. “I don’t take this opportunity lightly at all,” she wrote. “Just being invited is something I’m really grateful for,” she admitted. “I’m beyond excited for the chance to learn from the best, meet some amazing people, and try something new.”
She told her followers that she will update them on what is happening throughout the tryout process. “Side quest activated,” Linnaye wrote. “Wish me luck.”
