Ellis County United Special Olympics Powerlifting Team competes at Texas Winter Games | Sports


Head coach Pat Moriarty, along with assistants Joanna Tharp, Brandon Tharp, Stephanie Brickner and Rick Greenberg, traveled with the ECU Special Olympics Powerlifting team to Beecave, TX to compete in the Texas Winter Games on Feb. 14.  Comprised of a team of 10 athletes (five men and five women) representing many towns throughout Ellis County, this team competed against 154 other lifters from across the state.   As a proud delegation of the Special Olympics, these dedicated athletes brought home a total of 24 gold medals, 10 silver medals, a fourth-place finish and a fifth-place finish. The event marked a significant milestone for the team and the local community, showcasing the power of inclusion and athletic achievement.
