The Floresville Jaguars powerlifting team delivered a great performance on Jan. 22, earning their second team championship at their second home meet of the season.
Floresville had lifters in many different weight classes:
In the 97-lb. weight class, Alonna Rangel placed second, followed by Desiree Benavides finishing first, to set the tone early for Floresville. The 114- lb. division demonstrated the strength of the Jaguars’ roster, with Kendra Ramirez placing sixth, Payton Austin finishing fifth, Maggie Farrell taking fourth, and Emma Farrell earning a third-place finish.
At 123 pounds, Jaelyn Escobedo placed third and Marianna Pinto closed out in first place. Momentum continued in the 132-lb. division, where Layla Rodriguez placed sixth, Alexandria Donlan finished third, Katalina Cruz earned second, and Jayla Rivas claimed first place.
Marley Fogleman added valuable points with a fourth-place finish in the 148-lb. class. The 165-lb. division provided another strong showing, as Zadie Sultenfuss placed twelfth, Iris Juarez finished tenth, Joselyn Avila earned fifth, and Kambri Angle capped the class with a first-place finish.
In the 198-lb. weight class, Kayden Garrett placed third before Gabriella Denavejar secured first place. The meet concluded in the 220-lb. class, where Arianna Rodriguez earned third place and Gabrielle Honesto delivered a standout performance to finish first.
With contributions from across the roster, the Jaguars successfully defended their home platform. The performance reflected the work being done daily in the weight room and set a strong tone as the team continues its season.
The Floresville Tiger powerlifting team will compete this Thursday, Jan. 29, and the Jaguars will compete next on Thursday, Feb. 5.
