\n Kim only took up bodybuilding last year and succeeded beyond her wildest expectations \u2013 winning Miss Athletics UK at the BNBF finals and coming third in the Miss Athletic category at the Drug Free Athletic Coalition Miami Pro-World Bodybuilding Champions in the US city.\n<\/p>\n
\n The 33-year-old said she feels nervous and excited about the British finals, which will be held in Perth on Sunday, September 25.\n<\/p>\n
\n Kim, of Temple Sowerby, said: \u201cI have been training extra, extra hard.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI\u2019d love to keep my British title but we\u2019ll see. I\u2019m not sure that will happen this year.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI have been trying to get in really good condition which means getting extra lean.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n Since January 1 this year, she has eaten the same meals at the same time every day.\n<\/p>\n
\n Her diet is strict and she has no cheat days.\n<\/p>\n
\n She only eats porridge oats, bananas, potatoes, rice, vegetables like broccoli, courgette, spinach, lots of fish and eggs.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI don\u2019t mind it, I wouldn\u2019t do it if I didn\u2019t enjoy it,\u201d said Kim, though she admitted she would like a chicken wrap.\n<\/p>\n
\n To make sure she is in the best physique for the finals, Kim trains every day.\n<\/p>\n
\n On top of the 20 classes a week that she instructs at various gyms in Carlisle, Penrith and Kendal, she does weight training for two and a half to three hours a day, five or six days a week, and extra cardio training for an hour a day. Her dream is to be world champion and she said she would keep going until she achieves that goal.\n<\/p>\n
\n She also really wants to retain her British title.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cIt would be absolutely amazing,\u201d she said.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI have trained really hard for the last two years.\n<\/p>\n
\n \n \u201cFor me it\u2019s something for me and it\u2019s just a massive achievement if I can hold my title.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cAnd it keeps me strong mentally, not just physically.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n Kim juggles being a full time mum to Joseph Wilson, 16, Ellie Wilson, 12, and Harriet Laidlow, six, as well as her training and classes.\n<\/p>\n \n There are two rounds at the BNBF finals, where competitors are critiqued on their fitness, balance, symmetry, leanness, muscle and athletic ability.\n<\/p>\n \n In the first symmetry round, competitors pose showing off their abs, double biceps, triceps, chest and other muscles.\n<\/p>\n \n The second round is choreographed and judges examine not only competitors\u2019 bodies but also their confidence and stage presence.\n<\/p>\n \n If judges can\u2019t decide between people there is essentially a pose off to help them decide their favourite, which Kim said can be a lot of fun.\n<\/p>\n \n This year, Kim has been supported by bed manufacturer Sealy, which has a factory in Aspatria.\n<\/p>\n \n Kim said: \u201cThe support from Sealy has been absolutely fantastic and it\u2019s really made a big difference to my training.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cNot only has the company gifted me a bed to help me get the sleep I need, it has also become one of my main sponsors which has helped me with membership and show fees and other preparations too.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cI\u2019ve found I\u2019ve been sleeping much better and I feel more alert for my training, which I do every single day \u2013 this is really important to me.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
