Ross Taylor, 30, won the World Natural Bodybuilding Bantamweight title at a glamorous finals event in New York last week.<\/p>\n
Now he\u2019s able to compete for money alongside the biggest names in the sport after earning a pro-card.<\/p>\n
Ross, who won the British lightweight title in October, admits he put his life on hold for six months to prepare for the event.<\/p>\n
He juggled married life and an intense fitness and diet programme with his job at St Matthew\u2019s Academy in Saltcoats.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone\u2019s been great especially my wife Stacey. The kids at school have given me a bit of a rinsing about my fake tan though!\u201d<\/p>\n
Ross insists he\u2019ll bide his time before muscling in on the professional circuit and money-spinning events.<\/p>\n
He\u2019ll worry about that in a years\u2019 time as he puts family and work life first again after a crazy 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe way the pro-card works you have to compete within the next two years if you don\u2019t want to lose it,\u201d said Ross who teaches PE at St Matthew\u2019s Academy in Saltcoats.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a really tough six months, not just for me but my wife Stacey.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been six days a week in the gym, and 28 weeks of dieting with no cheat meals to get ready.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were moments I wanted to jack it all in but Stacey kept me going.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s been really understanding about everything I\u2019ve had to do to prepare myself.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe couldn\u2019t be with me in New York but there were tears shed from both us when I won.<\/p>\n
\u201cI still don\u2019t think it\u2019s actually sunk in yet but I\u2019m over the moon.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ross also admits he owes a massive deal of gratitude to the coaches at Irvine\u2019s Fitness Factory \u2013 where he trains \u2013 who helped get him in tip-top condition.<\/p>\n
\u201cDavid Jackson and John Montgomery have been coaching me since I was a teenager and the time and effort they\u2019ve put into me has been unbelievable, he added. \u201cWithout their help and dedication I wouldn\u2019t have been able to come this far.”<\/p>\n

Four years later he was crowned Scottish champion but he then took the decision to take some time away from the sport.<\/p>\n
Last year, he decided to pour his heart and soul back into it, juggling his preparations with married life and his teaching job.<\/p>\n
