Guyana\u2019s Nadina Taharally on the podium<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/header>\n

Guyana\u2019s Nadina Taharally delivered a spirited performance at the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Masters Classic Powerlifting Championships in Cape Town, South Africa. She secured a bronze medal in the deadlift event of the Women\u2019s Masters 2, 76kg category.<\/p>\n

Taharally, the lone female representative for the 592, lifted 175 kilograms to capture the bronze, finishing fifth overall.<\/p>\n

She lost to Canada\u2019s Mayo Ameli and New Zealand\u2019s Roshelle Jessop, who won gold and silver respectively.<\/p>\n

Also representing the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPLF) at the championships were Mohamed Wazim and Bjorn Williams.<\/p>\n

GAPLF President Paul Meusa praised Taharally\u2019s medal-winning effort, describing it as a moment of pride for the federation and the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cNadina\u2019s bronze medal-winning performance was quite an amazing one. It was one of true grit and determination. This is the highest level of powerlifting in the world, and she came out here and showed the world how Guyanese can get it done despite all the odds. We are so proud of her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Musa said the federation is now eager to see the performance of Franklin Brisport in the equipped category. \u201cWe\u2019re expecting some medals from him in the equipped version Nevertheless, all in all, our guys performed really well. Bjorn and Wazim both did exceptionally well\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
