{"id":8910,"date":"2026-01-12T10:22:36","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T10:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldbodybuildingnews.com\/?p=8910"},"modified":"2026-01-12T10:22:36","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T10:22:36","slug":"newbridge-mum-competes-at-bodybuilding-championships-in-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldbodybuildingnews.com\/?p=8910","title":{"rendered":"Newbridge mum competes at Bodybuilding championships in New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div wp_automatic_readability=\"91\">\n\t\t<?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ????><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"670\" height=\"445\" src=\"https:\/\/caerphilly.observer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Newbridge_bodybuilder_New_York_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-982082\" srcset=\"https:\/\/caerphilly.observer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Newbridge_bodybuilder_New_York_1.jpg 670w, https:\/\/caerphilly.observer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Newbridge_bodybuilder_New_York_1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\"\/><figcaption>Bodybuilder Rhiannon Ahern has competed at the world championships in New York<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>A 36-year-old mother from Newbridge has competed at the Bodybuilding world championships in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>Rhiannon Ahern finished sixth out of 18 competitors at the event, which took place on Saturday, November 16.<\/p>\n<p>Ahern qualified for the competition after winning the bikini short competition at the UK Drug-Free Bodybuilding Association (UKDFBA) British championship.<\/p>\n<p>Ahern described the trip as \u201cvery exciting and tiring\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cI did not make the top five as I had hoped, but the sport is very subjective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so proud to have got to the world championships once again to represent the UK and Wales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel super blessed that the UKDFBA gave me this opportunity once again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that I have inspired other females to reach for their fitness goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"670\" height=\"445\" src=\"https:\/\/caerphilly.observer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Newbridge_bodybuilder_New_York_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-982083\" srcset=\"https:\/\/caerphilly.observer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Newbridge_bodybuilder_New_York_2.jpg 670w, https:\/\/caerphilly.observer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Newbridge_bodybuilder_New_York_2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\"\/><figcaption>Rhiannon Ahern with her son<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ahern started competing in bodybuilding nine years ago after the birth of her son.<\/p>\n<p>She had always enjoyed fitness but was encouraged by her husband to set herself a new goal, so she began entering local bodybuilding competitions.<\/p>\n<p>Since becoming a bodybuilder, she\u2019s placed third with the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) at the Arnold Classic event and finished in the top ten at a competition in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>Ahern started competing with the UKDFBA in 2017 and within her first year won the British Championships and finished second at the World Championships in Boston.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cAs a busy mum and working full time, it can sometimes be tricky to fit everything in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut finding a gym that\u2019s open 24 hours has been vital to my training as it works around my family schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In preparation for the world championships, Ahern, who works as a personal trainer at Snap Fitness in Blackwood, trained six or seven days each week.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cEveryone at Snap Fitness Blackwood has been really supportive throughout my journey.<\/p>\n<p>John Prior, Regional Manager of Snap Fitness Blackwood, said: \u201cWe are so proud of Rhiannon\u2019s achievements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s taken all her previous learnings from past competitions in her stride, showing that tenacity and hard work really do pay off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe has always been a dedicated and inspiring member of our gym and this success is a real testament to her dedication and passion to fitness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Action PR<\/p>\n<p>Action PR<\/p>\n<p><!-- CONTENT END 1 --><\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/caerphilly.observer\/news\/982080\/newbridge-mum-competes-at-bodybuilding-championships-in-new-york\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bodybuilder Rhiannon Ahern has competed at the world championships in New York A 36-year-old mother from Newbridge has competed at the Bodybuilding world championships in New York City.
