\n Strongwoman Anderson, 44, fought off stiff competition to scoop the title during the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation Finals 2012 in Manchester at the weekend.\n<\/p>\n
\n Anderson, from Tranent, is now heading to Miami to represent Great Britain in the World Bodybuilding Championships in November.\n<\/p>\n
\n A multi-world record holder as a powerlifter, she only deciding to give bodybuilding a try after a shoulder injury halted her powerlifting training.\n<\/p>\n
\n Anderson, who manages a McDonald’s fast-food outlet at Meadowbank, Edinburgh, told Courier Sport: “I hurt my shoulder earlier this year and instead of sitting doing nothing while I healed I decided to enter the Scottish Bodybuilding Championships. Surprisingly I won that and was then entered into the British event.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I was up against some extremely experienced bodybuilders in Manchester and I was delighted to have won.” Anderson revealed she headed straight to a local McDonald’s to indulge in a well-earned snack to celebrate her win.\n<\/p>\n
\n She added: “I had to sit about after the competition to wait on a drug test, but as soon as we were out of there I went straight to the nearest McDonald’s as I’ve been on a strict diet for the past seven weeks!\n<\/p>\n
\n “To prepare for a tournament like this I’ve had to eat nothing but chicken, vegetables and sweet potatoes, basically high-protein food. I’ve also drunk nothing but water for the past seven weeks so I was itching to get some proper food down me.” The former Ross High pupil also revealed all the competitors had to undergo a lie detector test to ensure there were no drug-enhanced performances, while all the category winners were then forced to take a drug test at the end of the competition.\n<\/p>\n
\n But even though she has now been newly-crowned as a bodybuilding champion, Anderson s determined to get back to the powerlifting sport she loves.\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: “I much prefer powerlifting to bodybuilding as it is the sport I have competed in for the past 17 years.\n<\/p>\n
\n “To be honest, I was a bit embarrassed to be standing up on that stage in my bikini but now that I have won I’m preparing for the final in Miami.” Anderson has achieved a number of world records during an illustrious powerlifting career including smashing five world records at the British Single Lifts Championships in 2009, including a dead weight lift of 210kgs – the equivalent of 33 stones.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
