We gathered some info from one of the top <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/naturalbodybuilding.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA)\/Professional Natural Bodybuilding Association (PNBA)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Men\u2019s Bodybuilding Grand Masters athletes, <strong>Davide Donati<\/strong>. Donati shared with us his complete natural bodybuilding training and nutrition routine he does to prep for competition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Davide Donati\u2019s training paid off as he placed in the top five of the Men\u2019s Bodybuilding Grand Masters class at Natural Olympia last year. Although, this was no easy task. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/davide-donati-natural-olympia\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Donati reflected on having 200 beats per minute heart rate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> moments before walking on stage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Donati stated the statement below regarding his training routine (translated from Italian to English):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMy split training routine is divided into:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1st day, push muscles: Chest, shoulders, triceps, abdomen<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2nd day, Legs and Calves<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">3rd day, traction muscles: Back, biceps, abdomen<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">4th-day rest, cardio liss only.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to Donati, he follows a push\/leg\/pull split routine training three days in a row, followed by a rest\/cardio day. He also noted that depending on if it\u2019s a training day or rest day, he\u2019ll load up on more <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/carbs-friend-enemy-bodybuilder\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">carbs<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(training day).<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0And on his rest days, he\u2019ll consume fewer carbs but more <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/essential-fats-bodybuilding-diet\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. He keeps his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/complete-guide-protein-supplements\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">protein<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> intake constant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When it comes to the foods Donati eats, he stated:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMy foods are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PROTEINS: chicken, turkey, codfish, mackerel, salmon, eggs, dairy products.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CARBOHYDRATES: Rice, Pasta, Bread, Oats, Spelled, Barley, Buckwheat<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">FATS: EVO oil, Omega 3, Egg yolk, Almonds, Walnuts, Linseed oil<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">DRINKS Water, Coca Cola Zero<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SUPPLEMENTS: Vit. C, Vit. B, Multivit. and Minerals, Zinc, Magnesium, EAA, Cyclodextrins, Creatine, Melatonin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">My pre-workout: Caffeine Anhydrous and Arginine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Intra-workout: Cyclodextrins, Creatine, EAA\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Davide Donati acknowledges that his peak weak is extremely important. He says that he loads up on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/best-alkaline-water\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">salt and water.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> And for three consecutive days before the competition, Donati will reduce his carb intake, increase his fat intake to 1 g\/kg body weight, and keep his protein constant \u2013 2 g\/kg of bodyweight. Next, Donati will reuptake carbohydrates to about 300-400 g\/day, decrease his fat to 20-30 g, and slightly reduce his protein intake to 1.5 g\/kg body weight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Donati says that he\u2019ll remove the water and salt from his nutrition the evening before the event. But the day of the event, he\u2019ll consume simple and complex carbs such as biscuits, jam, and honey. And before he goes on stage, he\u2019ll have some salty fries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Although peak week helps Donati prep for performing on stage, he admits that it\u2019s no miracle and that it just helps make your striated muscles look fuller.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Natural Athletes<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Natural athletes solely rely on their training and nutrition when competing since drug usage is prohibited. Of course, performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) such as steroids can vastly enhance your physique, but they have potential adverse side effects. Also, using drugs gives competitors an unfair advantage against natural athletes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Natural bodybuilding leagues such as the INBA PNBA \u2013 the most prominent natural bodybuilding league \u2013 make competition fair since all competitors are drug tested.
