Formby bodybuilder John Youssef is enjoying an extraordinary year of success and could soon make sporting history as he sets his sights on completing a remarkable treble of British, Universe and World Championship titles.

The 48-year-old athlete, who previously owned Youssef Strength Gym, USC Training Facility and USC Gym, has established himself as one of Britain’s leading masters bodybuilders following a string of impressive victories on the national and international stage.

Having already secured two prestigious Mr Universe titles earlier this year, John added another major achievement to his growing collection last weekend when he was crowned IBFA Masters British Champion.

Now, with two more major competitions on the horizon, the Formby athlete is determined to finish 2026 on an unforgettable high.

An Incredible Year of Success

John’s remarkable season gathered momentum in July when he travelled to compete at the IBFA Mr Universe Championships.

Competing against some of the finest physiques in the sport, he delivered an outstanding performance, securing both the Class 3 Mr Universe title and the Masters Mr Universe crown.

His achievements also earned him professional status, marking another significant milestone in his bodybuilding career.

Rather than taking time to celebrate his success, John continued his demanding training regime, maintaining the dedication and discipline required to compete at the highest level.

That commitment paid off last weekend when he claimed the IBFA Masters British Championship, further strengthening his reputation as one of the country’s most accomplished masters competitors.

Another British Title Within Reach

John’s next challenge comes tomorrow, Sunday 1 November, when he competes at the Fit X British Finals.

He will be hoping to add another prestigious British title to his collection before turning his attention to an even bigger challenge on the international stage.

Just two weeks later, John will travel to Seville, Spain, where he will proudly represent Great Britain at the PCA World Championships.

Having previously secured a bronze medal at world level, he knows exactly what it takes to compete against the very best.

This time, however, he will be aiming for the top spot on the podium.

Could John Make Bodybuilding History?

The possibility of securing British, Universe and World Championship titles within the same calendar year represents an extraordinary opportunity.

Winning just one of these prestigious competitions is a significant achievement, requiring years of dedication, relentless training and exceptional physical conditioning.

To capture all three in the space of just four months would be a remarkable accomplishment and a fitting reward for John’s commitment to the sport.

At 48, he is also demonstrating that age need not be a barrier to competing at the highest level of bodybuilding.

His achievements are a testament to years of hard work, determination and an unwavering passion for fitness.

Flying the Flag for Formby

For those who remember John’s involvement in the local fitness community through his former gyms, his continued success on the international stage is something to celebrate.

From running training facilities in the area to competing against some of the world’s best bodybuilders, his journey has been one of dedication, ambition and perseverance.

With another British final just around the corner and the World Championships fast approaching, the coming weeks could prove to be the most successful of his competitive career.
