Speaking on Instagram (October 20, 2026), <strong>he reflected on the extreme pain that forced him to miss the 2026 Mr. Olympia.<\/strong> He also revealed that he got a new prosthetic leg and that his pain levels have plummeted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For years, Wheeler suffered from an array of health issues, including blood clots and <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/flex-wheeler-transplanted-kidney\/\">kidney failure<\/a>. In 2019, doctors told him that he required an <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/flex-wheeler-surgery-amputation\/\">emergency amputation<\/a> of his right leg. Despite the procedure upending his life, Wheeler has kept a positive outlook, continuing to serve as a top ambassador for the sport of <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/27290\/understanding-the-difference\/\">bodybuilding<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>From suicidal thoughts to struggling to walk, Wheeler has been open about his journey. I picked up my VIP tickets Thursday, and unfortunately, I started experiencing some extreme pain, to the point where Thursday night, I had to be rushed to the hospital. They ended up keeping me for nine days.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He shared that he received a new prosthetic leg and reported better-than-ever pain levels:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cIt was pretty bad, but the good thing is that I\u2019m good now. I have actually a new leg now that feels a lot better. My pain level is way, way down, probably the lowest it\u2019s ever been since my amputation. Today, we were actually able to do our first leg workout. It\u2019s probably been over a year and a half since I did legs.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cThat\u2019s about it. I just wanted to give you guys an update,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DeufG88vcQ0\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shared<\/a> Flex Wheeler.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Flex Wheeler no longer competes actively, but he\u2019s given top bodybuilders a helping hand.
