He left in third place, and he offered no excuses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is my title. I worked for it for more than a decade. Nobody is taking it from me,\u201d Lunsford said in May, as we <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/derek-lunsford-fires-shots-andrew-jacked-2026-mr-olympia-battle-workout\/\">reported at the time<\/a>. Lunsford was one point behind Walker after prejudging, 9 to 8 (lowest total wins), then placed third in the finals with 15 points. He finished on 24, behind Walker\u2019s 18 and Dauda\u2019s 20. I wanted to bring the best out of them, bring the best out of myself, and also I wanted to fire up the fans. And I think that\u2019s what we got,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said he congratulated the winner, and he shook Dauda\u2019s hand as well.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cNo excuses. Just didn\u2019t come together tonight. And I told Nick, \u2018Hey, you earned it. That kind of sucks,\u201d he said. \u201cBut also, I know I have such great support.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He thanked both groups. \u201cThanks to all the fans who support, even the ones that are rooting against me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>For all that, he praised the show itself, from the venue to the running order. \u201cEverything was great this year except my place,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"he-has-been-here-before\">He has been here before<\/h2>\n<p>Third place is not new territory for Lunsford. The two-time Mr. Olympia and former 212 Olympia champion also finished third in 2024, one year after his first Sandow.
