In a September 15 video, <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/bodybuilding\/athletes\/shawn-ray\/\" class=\"bb-athlete-link\" data-athlete-slug=\"shawn-ray\">Shawn Ray<\/a> assessed the Men\u2019s Open landscape.<strong> He predicted that reigning two-time champ <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/bodybuilding\/athletes\/derek-lunsford\/\" class=\"bb-athlete-link\" data-athlete-slug=\"derek-lunsford\">Derek Lunsford<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/bodybuilding\/athletes\/nick-walker\/\" class=\"bb-athlete-link\" data-athlete-slug=\"nick-walker\">Nick Walker<\/a> could both place lower than second.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lunsford heads into this year\u2019s Mr. Olympia having gone undefeated in 2025. He won the <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2025-arnold-classic-results\/\">Arnold Classic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2025-pittsburgh-pro-results\/\">Pittsburgh Pro<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2025-mr-olympia-results\/\">Mr. Olympia<\/a> consecutively, pulling off arguably the most successful season in bodybuilding history.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While Lunsford stepped away for an off-season, <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/andrew-jacked-profile\/\">Andrew Jacked<\/a> cemented himself as a top Olympia threat. He picked up three Pro show victories in a row, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2025-romania-muscle-fest-pro-results\/\">2025 Romania Pro<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2026-arnold-classic-results-all-divisions\/\">2026 Arnold Classic Ohio<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2026-arnold-classic-uk-results\/\">AC UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Other contenders have made statements ahead of the 2026 Mr. Olympia. Nick Walker claimed silver at the Arnold and won the <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2026-tampa-pro-results\/\">Tampa Pro<\/a>. The lineup is deep, prompting Ray to take a closer look at how the event could unfold.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"shawn-ray-calls-2026-mr-olympia-wide-open-shares-doubts-about-lunsford-walker\">Shawn Ray Calls 2026 Mr. Olympia \u2018Wide Open,\u2019 Shares Doubts About Lunsford &amp; Walker \u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>When asked about Martin Fitzwater moving up to second, Ray shut the idea down quickly:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see it happening. Martin\u2026 he\u2019s got to be in the right show, right?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot the Mr. Olympia, is it too much of a size thing now?\u201d asks Cutler.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c100%. And he doesn\u2019t have the wow factor. When I think of Martin\u2019s physique, I\u2019m thinking what stands out most? He\u2019s not known for his back double biceps, he\u2019s not known for his calves, his biceps are okay, his chest is okay, there\u2019s nothing where it\u2019s like wow!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ray labeled the contest \u2018wide open,\u2019 but added that it\u2019s Jacked\u2019s \u2018show to lose.\u2019 He believes Dauda has a lot of questions to answer from last year and argued Lunsford\u2019s physique is maxed out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cRight now, I still think to this day, it\u2019s wide open. It\u2019s Andrew Jacked\u2019s show to lose. Samson has a lot to prove in terms of conditioning. I think Derek is totally maxed out. There\u2019s nothing else he can do to his frame. If I\u2019m him, I\u2019m focusing on conditioning. He can\u2019t come in any bigger. He\u2019s too short. He will be boxy. Is he saying he\u2019s coming in heavier? Because that\u2019d be a mistake.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I\u2019m him right now like Ronnie did in \u201901 at the Arnold Classic, I\u2019d be coming in my lightest with my most streamlined look,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AErdj0l6rik&amp;t=2s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shared<\/a> Shawn Ray.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Given the lineup, Ray argued that Fitzwater, Lunsford, and Walker could end up finishing lower than second:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cFitzwater, Derek, and Nick, all three of those guys could be outside the top two. This could be Samson and Andrew Jacked, and all the shorter guys. I don\u2019t know how they put one of these short guys in between Samson and Andrew. They may, but they may do what happened in \u201997 where they had the two big guys next to each other.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While Shawn Ray has serious doubts about Nick Walker\u2019s Olympia potential, <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/bodybuilding\/athletes\/jay-cutler\/\" class=\"bb-athlete-link\" data-athlete-slug=\"jay-cutler\">Jay Cutler<\/a> doesn\u2019t. He recently shared that <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/jay-cutler-believes-nick-walker-win-2026-mr-olympia\/\">Walker has the tools to win<\/a> the 2026 Mr. Olympia title but warned that he\u2019s up against a challenging lineup.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The number one bodybuilder in the world will be crowned next weekend.
