Elizabeth Smart <\/b>is continuing her newfound bodybuilding pursuits<\/a> with great strength \u2014 literally.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother show for the books! Had such a blast,\u201d Smart, 38, wrote via Instagram<\/span><\/a> on Saturday, September 5, sharing footage from the North American Championships competition this week. \u201cI\u2019ve always said \u2018just stepping on stage is a win for me!\u2019 And I completely stand by that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smart sported a blue micro bikini as she competed in the Masters 35+ and Open Class D categories based on age and height, respectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cI placed at the bottom of both classes. Regardless of where I placed, I loved the whole experience, had an amazing coach<\/a> (@slcrobynmaher), got to step onstage with my best friend (@mpholsombake), and had the best support squad in the audience I could ask for,\u201d she noted. \u201cI brought a better physique and stage presence than at my previous shows, and I\u2019m so proud of myself for the hard work, discipline and bravery it takes me to compete. So here\u2019s to pursuing goals and not giving up!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tElizabeth Smart\u2019s fitness coach, Robyn Maher, is sharing the secrets behind her bodybuilding competition success. \u201cShe followed a plan, a healthy meal plan, all this time,\u201d Maher shared in an interview with Extra published on Wednesday, April 22. \u201cAnd then weight training most days of the week. So typically, five to six days a week [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sharing more images from the competition to her Instagram Stories, Smart revealed her husband, Matthew Gilmour<\/b>, dutifully cheered her own despite the loss. (Smart and Gilmour, who have been married since 2012, share three children.)<\/p>\n

\u201cSo grateful for all of Matthew\u2019s support,\u201d she gushed.<\/p>\n

Smart debuted her passion for bodybuilding<\/span><\/a> in April, noting via Instagram that she wanted to demonstrate that survivors are more than just the trauma they endured. (The advocate was kidnapped in 2002 when she was 14 years old. She claimed she was physically, sexually and psychologically abused during her nine months of captivity.)<\/p>\n
