Just months after his injury, he won the 2017 NZWBBF Nationals. In May 2019, Gudgeon won first place at the Toronto Pro Qualifier, earning his IFBB Pro Card and breaking barriers as Aotearoa&#8217;s inaugural professional wheelchair athlete. His ascent reached historic heights in August 2026, when he secured victory at the IFBB Texas Pro Men&#8217;s Wheelchair competition, officially qualifying him for the iconic Mr. Olympia stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"break-words  verse-paragraph-md font-regular mb-4 min-h-2\">Competing on the world stage comes with significant financial hurdles for an adaptive athlete traveling from Aotearoa. To make his historic appearance at the Mr. Olympia weekend in Las Vegas possible, Gudgeon has launched a community campaign to help cover expenses for long-haul international travel, specialized accommodation, support care, athlete registration, and competition preparation.
