As Glasgow prepares to welcome the 2026 Commonwealth Games<\/strong>, the spotlight will not only be on sporting excellence but also on the city\u2019s ability to reinforce its reputation as one of Europe\u2019s leading destinations for international events. On 24 July 2026<\/strong>, the Scottish Event Campus (SEC)<\/strong> will host the Para Powerlifting<\/strong> competition, bringing together elite athletes from across the Commonwealth for a day of world-class competition that is expected to generate significant benefits for Scotland\u2019s tourism, hospitality and business events sectors.<\/p>\n

Although Para Powerlifting is a single-day sporting competition within the wider Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games programme, its impact extends well beyond the arena. International athletes, coaches, officials, media representatives and travelling supporters will contribute to increased demand for hotels, restaurants, transport services and visitor attractions across Glasgow, reinforcing the city\u2019s position as a premier host for global sporting and MICE events.<\/p>\n

SEC Continues to Strengthen Glasgow\u2019s Global Events Reputation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Para Powerlifting competition will take place at the SEC Armadillo<\/strong>, part of the Scottish Event Campus, one of the United Kingdom\u2019s foremost venues for international conferences, exhibitions, concerts and sporting events.<\/p>\n

For decades, the SEC has played a central role in attracting high-profile global events to Scotland, supported by modern facilities, excellent transport connectivity and proximity to Glasgow\u2019s city centre. Its experience in staging major international sporting competitions, including events during the 2014 Commonwealth Games, provides a strong foundation for hosting athletes and spectators during Glasgow 2026.<\/p>\n

The venue\u2019s strategic location also allows visitors easy access to Glasgow International Airport, rail services and an extensive public transport network, making it convenient for international delegations travelling from across the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n
