He capped off the competition by pulling a 78kg (172lb) deadlift, setting a new American record and securing the national title. The victory continues a remarkable run for the young athlete, who has quickly become one of the nation&#8217;s top youth powerlifters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The team also celebrated an inspiring performance from 73-year-old Steven White, who earned a silver medal in the Men&#8217;s 90kg Masters 4 division. White totaled 412.5 kilograms while going 7-for-9 on the day, finishing just 2.5 kilograms shy of his personal best. Even more impressive, the national championships marked only White&#8217;s sixth powerlifting competition since beginning the sport in February 2025. In less than a year and a half, he has progressed from first-time competitor to national medalist.<\/p>\n<p>Julie Cullen, 41, completed the team&#8217;s successful weekend by totaling 385 kilograms and going 8-for-9 on her attempts. Cullen set seven new Delaware state records and added 15 kilograms to her previous best total. Her performance was especially significant after recovery from knee surgery, pregnancy and the challenge of balancing training with her career as an emergency room physician.<\/p>\n<p>The results highlight the distinctive culture at Rehoboth Beach Barbell Club, where athletes of all ages train and compete together.
