That\u2019s part of the reason I\u2019m fascinated with subcultures that form around unexpected and nontraditional ways for people to meet and form bonds. <\/p>\n<p>So when Monica Cahalen with Osborn Performance Systems (or Ops) in Wenatchee, the region\u2019s only gym totally dedicated to powerlifting, reached out to me to let me know they were hosting a powerlifting meet this month I marked my calendar. <\/p>\n<p>Not only is powerlifting a visually-interesting subject to capture on video, but it\u2019s also an interesting subculture. This year 37 athletes came to compete, one from as far away as Tennessee.
