\n Kieran John Moore, 32, from Bolton, was found dead at the Dalegarth House Country Hotel, Portinscale, Keswick, on September 11, 2025.\n<\/p>\n
\n An inquest into his death took place on Wednesday, June 24, at Allerdale House, Workington, presided over by Craig Smith.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Moore’s body was discovered by hotel owners Claire and Michael Dalton on September 11, at 10.42pm, the inquest heard, after he had earlier been reported missing to Greater Manchester Police.\n<\/p>\n
\n The court heard Mr Moore arrived at the hotel in Portinscale on September 10. Following the discovery of his body the next day, police officers and paramedics were called and Mr Moore was declared deceased at the scene.\n<\/p>\n
\n PC Potter told the court in a statement: “In the room there was a large bottle of Coca Cola and Kraken rum, and it looked as if some had been consumed. In the bathroom bin, there was an empty NovoRapid injection pen, which contained what is believed to be insulin.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Moore was described in a pen portrait by his sister Sarah, as “an outgoing sociable man with many friends.” He was a father, and had a son.\n<\/p>\n
\n He was also said to have loved the gym. His sister Sarah explained how he was in there “every day” and that he took part in a bodybuilding programme.\n<\/p>\n
\n His family told the court that Mr Moore used insulin as part of a ‘cutting regime’, something which Mr Smith said was not uncommon in bodybuilders.\n<\/p>\n
\n The court heard that Mr Moore did not suffer from any mental health disorders, but had struggled with his mental health following his father’s suicide in 2021, which he had attended counselling over.\n<\/p>\n
\n Prior to his death, Mr Moore sent text messages to both of his partners, professing his love to them, with one reading “I am so sorry”, the inquest heard.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Smith said that the toxicology report found 160mg\/dl of alcohol in Mr Moore’s system, only twice the drink driving limit. He also told the court that Kieran was not “a big drinker.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Smith explained how insulin was not able to be detected in the toxicology or post-mortem report.\n<\/p>\n
\n The post-mortem report, carried out by Dr Fergus Young, found the cause of death to be unascertained.\n<\/p>\n
\n Coroner Mr Smith provided a narrative conclusion to the inquest.\n<\/p>\n
\n He said: “Kieran was a gentlemen who did at times struggle with mental health. Part of his bodybuilding regime meant that he did take insulin, although he was not diabetic.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I cannot safely make any definitive finding as to when, how much or if he had taken insulin in the hotel room.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Smith said there was no third-party involvement, but he could not say whether the death was the result of a medical incident, an accident or a deliberate act.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Smith recorded an unascertained conclusion and said the precise cause of Mr Moore\u2019s death could not be determined.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
