During a recent episode of the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/IsKKJ-GZbKg?si=vSEQ5jWszV6mOo-u\">Voice of Bodybuilding podcast<\/a>, the former <a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/every-winner-arnold-classic\/\">Arnold Classic champion<\/a> <strong>doubled down on comments he previously made, questioning whether every <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/mr-olympia-winners\/\"><strong>Olympia<\/strong><\/a><strong> qualifier should actually compete.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His <a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/shawn-ray-quinton-eriya-should-skip-2026-olympia\/\">most recent comments<\/a> were directed at <a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/toronto-pro-live-results-and-scorecards\/\">Toronto Pro<\/a> winner Quinton Eriya. However, Ray\u2019s larger point extended beyond any one athlete. His issue is not with the contest itself, but with competitors entering the event without realistic expectations of being competitive.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"h-my-positioning-is-this-for-me-the-olympia-is-hallowed-ground-like-i-think-if-you-re-going-to-win-you-re-going-to-at-least-compete-you-re-going-to-get-paid-okay-the-more-exclusive-the-olympia-is-the-more-people-are-going-to-want-to-one-day-walk-across-the-stage\">\u201cMy positioning is this. For me, the Olympia is hallowed ground. Like I think if you\u2019re going to win, you\u2019re going to at least compete. You\u2019re going to get paid. Okay?\u2026The more exclusive the Olympia is, the more people are going to want to one day walk across the stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Ray, athletes should be asking themselves a simple question: What do you gain from competing if you have little chance of contending for a <a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/what-is-bodybuilding-judged-on\/\">meaningful placing<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bodybuilding veteran argued that a full Olympia prep requires enormous sacrifices in <a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/generation-iron-persia-hadi-choopan-clip\/\">training<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/whey-isolate-whey-concentrate-better-bodybuilding\/\">nutrition<\/a>, finances, and personal life. While many fans viewed the qualification as a milestone worth celebrating, Ray publicly suggested that Eriya might be better served waiting another year before competing at the Olympia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Ray, Eriya still has room to add <a href=\"https:\/\/generationiron.com\/muscle-maturity\/\">muscle and maturity<\/a> to his physique.
