He was 49.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a data-ylk=\"slk:A website;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/mikementzer.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">A website<\/a> devoted to Mentzer says, &#8220;Mike Mentzer was a true pioneer in bodybuilding philosophy, known for both his no-nonsense approach to training and his unwavering commitment to logic and science.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading\">Mike Mentzer&#8217;s Cause of Death Was Tragic<\/h2>\n<p><a data-ylk=\"slk:According to his website timeline;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/mikementzer.org\/complete-life-timeline\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">According to his website timeline<\/a>, Mentzer died in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>He was discovered &#8220;dead on the floor by his desk, where he had been working on more parts to the script for the video late into the night,&#8221; the bio says. The video was a training video he was working on.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mike&#8217;s death is the result of a heart attack, he had severe atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and had suffered previous heart attacks, his left main coronary artery was blocked. Mike also had morphine in his system that had been prescribed to him for pain management.&#8221; His brother Ray discovered him, the timeline says.<\/p>\n<p><a data-ylk=\"slk:According to;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ironmanmagazine.com\/mike-mentzers-last-interview\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">According to <\/a><a data-ylk=\"slk:Iron Man;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ironmanmagazine.com\/mike-mentzers-last-interview\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Iron Man<\/em><\/a><em>,<\/em> Mentzer gave an interview to <em>The Sandwich<\/em> just weeks before his death. &#8220;Things have been going along very well. I own a mail order business, as many people know; maintain a Web site, which requires a lot of work; I write articles; and I&#8217;m working on a video,&#8221; he said. &#8220;All of that takes up a lot of time, but I live up to my responsibilities, enjoying it, working up to 10, 12 hours a day. That&#8217;s been my pattern for many years. I can say my life revolves around my work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He spoke about his health problems in that story, saying, &#8220;I had a number of medical problems, including one that involved surgery on my cervical spine. I had pneumonia, bronchitis and recently discovered blood clots in my lungs. It&#8217;s fairly severe, but I&#8217;m on potent blood thinners, which should take care of the problem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ray Mentzer, who was also a bodybuilder,<a data-ylk=\"slk:missed a;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.greatestphysiques.com\/male-physiques\/ray-mentzer\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"> missed a <\/a>kidney dialysis appointment and died just two days after Mike.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"heading\">Mike Mentzer Was Described as 1 of the Most Influential Bodybuilders in History<\/h2>\n<p>The bio page on his website says that Mentzer &#8220;Mike Mentzer &#8220;was born on November 15, 1951, in the United States, where he developed an early passion for fitness and bodybuilding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Growing up in a competitive environment, Mike&#8217;s dedication to <a data-ylk=\"slk:strength;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mensjournal.com\/entertainment\/best-quotes-about-strength\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">strength<\/a> training led him to become one of the most influential figures in bodybuilding history,&#8221; the bio reads.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His pre-med studies at the University of Maryland, helped to shape his precise, scientific approach to training.
