Jeff Nippard, a popular Canadian fitness influencer, is opening up about his mental health. The Kelowna, B.C.-born bodybuilder shared he\u2019s been struggling with his grief, nearly three months after his fianc\u00e9e Stephanie Buttermore\u2019s shock death at 36<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Sunday, Nippard took to Instagram<\/a> to share an update on his life. The 35-year-old powerlifter \u2014\u00a0known for his YouTube channel<\/a> that boasts more than eight million subscribers \u2014\u00a0included various clips of himself working out in recent days as he\u2019s been taking a break from social media.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been staying in my friend\u2019s basement for the past few weeks and he has a barbell and a dumbbell down there, so I\u2019ve been getting back to my roots with some basic strength training again,\u201d Nippard began<\/a> in his post on May 24, nearly a month since his last update on Instagram.<\/p>\n \u201cWorking out during grief has been one of those things that I really don\u2019t want to do, but I\u2019m glad I did once it\u2019s done.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued to write about how he\u2019s been having a tough time since his partner of 10 years died earlier this year.<\/p>\n \u201cMy depression has been bad, so my strength is down a lot and for the first time I can remember, I have no real desire to work out,\u201d he penned<\/a>, adding he\u2019s been trying to push himself to exercise by telling himself to lift an empty bar up and down 10 times.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter that, if I still want to stop, I will. If it feels fine, I\u2019ll keep going. I usually end up finishing the workout anyway because it usually does feel better once it\u2019s started. I\u2019ve also taken some time away from social media and YouTube. It\u2019s a break that I felt I needed, so thank you for understanding,\u201d he added<\/a>, expressing appreciation for people\u2019s support.<\/p>\n In the comments section, thousands of people shared words of encouragement.<\/p>\n \u201cMore people than you know are keeping you in their thoughts,\u201d someone shared<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI wish you the absolute best,\u201d another wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cTake as much time as you need, my man. Everyone wants to see you back, but we want you to have a good life more than anything,\u201d another fitness content creator chimed in<\/a>.<\/p>\n Nippard last shared an update<\/a> on April 28, noting he\u2019d spent time with Buttermore\u2019s family and closest friends to celebrate her life.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I think about Stephanie, I keep coming back to how loving and kind she was. She really made the world a better place,\u201d Nippard added<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you were a fan of Stephanie, then I\u2019m a fan of you. I hope she made your life better in some way. She made my life amazing and I\u2019m so grateful for the time we had.\u201d<\/p>\n His team broke the news of Buttermore\u2019s death in a post<\/a> on March 6.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Jeff\u2019s fianc\u00e9e and partner of 10 years, Stephanie,\u201d the post read. \u201cAs many of you know, Stephanie meant the world to Jeff. She will be remembered for her warmth and compassion, her love for her family and her PhD research on ovarian cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n Prior to her death, Buttermore had also been a successful fitness influencer before she quit in May 2024. Back then, she wrote<\/a> about taking a step back to prioritize her mental health. She shared her anxiety had become \u201ccrippling,\u201d but after taking a break from social media, her mental health became \u201cthe best it\u2019s ever been.\u201d<\/p>\n In late 2022, Nippard and Buttermore announced their engagement<\/a>. The Canadian wrote about how he \u201cslid\u201d into her direct messages, and had been video chatting for hours daily until he went to visit her in Florida from Canada.<\/p>\n \u201cWe got along like best friends right away because we established a foundation of shared interests and values from the beginning. \u2026 It\u2019s been an amazing journey of growth and love.
