Sad news has hit the bodybuilding world. Albert “Al” Beckles, the legendary Barbados-born British bodybuilder who went down in history as “The Ageless One”, has died at the age of 95. His passing was reported by RxMuscle.<\/p>\n
Beckles was one of the most remarkable phenomena of the golden era of world bodybuilding. His career was defined by incredible longevity, fantastic symmetry, sharp form, and iconic, high-arched biceps. From amateur beginnings to the top<\/h2>\n
Albert Beckles was born on 14 July 1930 in Barbados, from where he later moved to London. It was in the British capital that he started his successful bodybuilding career. In the second half of the 1960s, he came to prominence at the prestigious NABBA Mr. Britain competition, which he won for the first time in 1970. In the same year he also won the title of Mr. Europe.<\/p>\n
The year 1971 was a turning point for Beckles. As an amateur, he literally dominated the scene and scored four major titles: defending his victory at NABBA Mr. Britain, winning the AAU Mr. World and winning overall triumphs (Overall) at both IFBB Mr. Universe and NABBA Mr. Universe.<\/p>\n

Record balance at Mr. Olympia<\/h2>\n
Among the professionals, Beckles did not lose out even in the huge competition of the giants of the time. During his career, he took to the prestigious Mr. Olympia<\/b> stage a total of 13 times<\/b>, making it to the elite five on six occasions.<\/p>\n
His greatest career success came in 1985. At Mr. Olympia, he finished second<\/b> at the then-respectable age of 55<\/b>, beaten only by eight-time champion Lee Haney. In addition, Beckles won the prestigious Night of Champions that same season.<\/p>\n
