On April 24, 2026, <strong>she joined Hany Rambod for an intense leg day workout ahead of the New York Pro.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/wellness-olympia-winners\/\">Wellness category<\/a> kicked off in 2021, and it\u2019s quickly become one of the most popular <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/27290\/understanding-the-difference\/\">bodybuilding<\/a> divisions. Competitors walk a fine line onstage; they have to present enough fullness and conditioning without going overboard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ayala has taken this into account ahead of her return, especially after her last few contests. She last competed in 2022, starting with a fifth-place finish at the <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2022-arnold-classic-results\/\">Arnold Classic<\/a>. To qualify for the Mr. Olympia, she secured gold at the <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2022-boston-pro-results\/\">Boston Pro<\/a>. However, at the biggest show of the year, <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2022-olympia-results\/\">she settled for eighth place<\/a>. Subscribe for free!<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hip Abductor Machine<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Leg Extension Machine (Lying Back)\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Leg Press Machine<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Walking Dumbbell Lunges\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"hip-abductor-machine\">Hip Abductor Machine<\/h3>\n<p>Before getting to compound movements, Rambod had Ayala warm up her glutes with the hip abduction machine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to activate a little glutes first, that way as we get ready to do any other compound movements that we already have blood in through the glutes and focused on glutes, everything is glute-dominant, especially with Wellness. It\u2019s the only asymmetrical class.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want a bigger lower body than upper body.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"leg-extension-machine-lying-variation\">Leg Extension Machine (Lying Variation)<\/h3>\n<p>Next, Ayala pushed through old-school lying leg extensions. Rambod explained that pointing the toes outward during reps can maximize tension on the upper thigh.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWhen you point your toes on any leg extension, you\u2019ll feel a little bit more in the upper thigh, right there in the upper thigh.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re doing this lying leg extension old-school style. What we\u2019re doing is, normally, you are upright, this old-school style one, you\u2019re actually leaning back,\u201d he said. \u201cControlling the eccentric is very important.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"leg-press-machine\">Leg Press Machine<\/h3>\n<p>Taking a narrow stance, she moved on with the leg press machine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cWe went from abduction, glute, then to quad, now we\u2019re getting a little combination. She really likes to do leg press, great exercise. We\u2019re just using a neutral stance, nothing too crazy high or low. Round trip all the way down about 30 yards and back,\u201d Rambod <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kCnRcRmDK6A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shared<\/a>. \u201cThe key is to make sure you\u2019re not going too fast.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ayala hasn\u2019t captured the Olympia title yet, but she has trained in the company of champions.
