In 2006, he dethroned <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/ronnie-coleman-profile\/\">Ronnie Coleman<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/history-mr-olympia\/\">Mr. Olympia<\/a> after placing second four times. Before getting the chance to string together a dynasty, Cutler\u2019s time on top was cut short by <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/dexter-jackson-profile\/\">Dexter Jackson<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Blade\u201d out-muscled him on the 2009 Mr. Olympia stage. The defeat lit a fire under Cutler, who returned a year later with an all-time best package. He solidified his legacy in the Men\u2019s Open class, showcasing his timeless <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/jay-cutler-quad-stomp\/\">quad stomp pose<\/a>. While it\u2019s been years since he competed, the four-time Mr. Olympia remains in tremendous shape. Subscribe for free!<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Foot Placement\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Tempo\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Depth\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>First, Cutler shared that a lower foot placement is key and will help keep the hamstrings from taking over the movement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThree important tips that you need to pay attention to. Number one: Your foot placement. Usually, I prefer a little lower on the platform instead of higher. You don\u2019t want to take too much of the hamstrings into play, although you\u2019re going to get some in there.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Tempo, or rep cadence, also factors into quad growth. Cutler recommended exploding out from the bottom of each repetition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cNumber two: Your tempo. You have to go through the repetitions at a steady speed, okay, remember, explosive out of the bottom.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>His third tip was to focus on depth, though he warned that it could vary based on body mechanics.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLastly, do not forget about the depth that you go. I always say ass to grass is very, very important for this exercise, but use your own depth and be smart about it,\u201d Jay Cutler <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/U8qWiNPP3B8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shared<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This wasn\u2019t Jay Cutler\u2019s first time advocating for the hack squat machine. He credited the exercise as <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/jay-cutler-exercise-for-quad-sweeps\/\">key to building his quad sweeps<\/a>. He also explained how he used the hack squat to bring out leg striations and sharper conditioning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even today, Cutler still boasts Pro-level legs in retirement.
