In a recent YouTube video on Nov. 2, 2025, <strong>bodybuilding veteran Toney Freeman discussed Lunsford\u2019s cartoonish physique and urged Nick Walker to focus on aesthetics instead of freak factor.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/2025-mr-olympia-results\/\">2025 Mr. Olympia<\/a>, the Men\u2019s Open division was shaken up. Former champion Samson Dauda fell to fourth place, with Lunsford pulling ahead to reclaim the title. Not only did Lunsford overcome a <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/derek-lunsford-torn-chest-2025-mr-olympia\/\">pec tear<\/a> before the competition, but had to pull himself together in the finals after dealing with a <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/chris-aceto-talk-derek-lunsford-2025-mr-olympia-panic-attack\/\">panic attack<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Walker <a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/nick-walker-coach-6th-place-finish-at-2025-mr-olympia\/\">mistimed his peak<\/a>, which pushed him into sixth place. Towards the end, Derek actually got better as the night went on. He started looking like a cartoon character towards the end when everybody else was kind of normaling out. I don\u2019t know what he did but I saw his density. He got harder.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He expects Lunsford to improve for the next two years since he\u2019s relatively new as an Open competitor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cOne thing about Derek, he put on so much muscle so fast, it\u2019s still not him yet. That\u2019s why his legs were going away. It wasn\u2019t that he didn\u2019t have them, they just was going away.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is year three, maybe four of him being this big. Next year, I expect him to be even harder and the year after that, even harder, because he\u2019s still super young,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?app=desktop&amp;v=UMAw1e2AI_4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On the other hand, Freeman noted that Walker should abandon his mutant persona and pursue aesthetics instead. He believes the switch would put Walker in a stronger position to win the Sandow trophy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"pullquote align-center\">\n<p>\u201cNick was just trying to be a monster when he should be trying to be more aesthetic instead of just out-freaking everybody. He\u2019s embodied that whole mutant thing but that\u2019s not going to win him the title.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He argued that although Walker\u2019s physique is loved by fans, he can\u2019t be number one in the world while growing the sport simultaneously.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a fan. I love the way he trains, his mentality, all of that, but he can\u2019t be number one and us grow the sport. We love Nick, us bodybuilding fans, we love the freak but if you\u2019re trying to present this thing to the world, then you need someone that\u2019s a little more aesthetically pleasing to get that jump. It\u2019s perception.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisney or Nike is not going to appreciate Nick Walker\u2019s physique. Not that we even have a chance to get those kinds of sponsors, but you know what I\u2019m saying. Somebody like Derek, he\u2019s like Superman. He\u2019s got the classic look in his face, great skin, nice V-taper, well spoken, loves God, that\u2019s the kind of person you put in front.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Fans and veterans of the sport have been open about what they think Walker should do next. Bob Cicherillo and Shawn Ray believe<a href=\"https:\/\/fitnessvolt.com\/bob-cicherillo-shawn-ray-talk-samson-dauda-nick-walker-future-contests\/\"> targeting the last two Open Mr. Olympia qualifiers<\/a> of the 2026 bodybuilding season is his best course of action.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Open division continues to keep fans talking, with attention turning to the 2026 Arnold Classic.
